Experience program Tanabata Washi(Japanese traditional paper) Art Workshop

The Sendai Tanabata Matsuri (仙台七夕まつり), held every year on August 6-8, is one of the largest and most famous tanabata celebrations in Japan.
Traditional Tanabata decorations are on display in the Sendai Ryokusaikan Visitor Center.
Most of the Japanese paper used for Tanabata decorations is disposed of.The Sendai Tanabata Washi Project was launched in the hope that the high-quality, beautifully patterned washi could somehow be reused.
Why not join us to make fans and lanterns that make great souvenirs?
We look forward to welcoming you at the Sendai Ryokusaikan Visitor Center.
