I am appointed Congress Chair of the 40th annual meeting of the Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine Technology (JSNMT). On holding this annual meeting, I take this opportunity to extend my sincere wishes to all members and officials of the meeting. The 40th annual meeting is scheduled to be held in Kobe international conference center and Kobe International Exhibition Hall from 12th to 14th November 2020. This meeting will be jointly held with the 60th annual scientific meeting of the Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine (Congress Chair is Dr. Michio Senda, Kobe City Medical Center General Hospital).
The main theme of the annual meeting is “Nuclear Medicine develops on the Network “. This “network” means the system and the method connecting not only computer to computer but also human to human or organizations. Nuclear medicine has been developed through the network of fields such as medicine, pharmaceutical science, and engineering. In recent clinical settings, it is essential to share information with physicians, technologists, nurses, and pharmacists in order to safely perform nuclear medicine study and treatment. Through this annual meeting, we hope that the new network will be created throughout the people concerned in nuclear medicine. Further, we expect the new network created through this meeting will play an important role in the development of nuclear medicine.
The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Similarly, many annual meeting have been postponed or changed to the web meeting. We will hold this annual meeting in the style of “on-site” as usual and also through “Web system”, so called a “hybrid” method. The Web system makes it possible for members who cannot come to the venue due to the spread of COVID-19 infection to join the annual meeting. In addition, we will incorporate a “new normal” to avoid the 3Cs (closed spaces, crowded places, close-contact settings) in the venue.
Kobe is accessible from any area in Japan, not to mention the Kansai and Chugoku-Shikoku regions. We hope that a lot of members will participate in the annual meeting in Kobe or attend through the Web to create a new network and also to contribute to further growth of the nuclear medicine technology.
