The 64th Annual Congress of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgeons
Chairman Shigeru Ono, M.D., Ph.D.
(Professor and Chair, Department of Pediatric Surgery, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine)

It is my great honor and privilege to serve as President of the 64th Annual Congress of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgeons, which will be held from May 27 (Thursday) to May 29 (Saturday), 2027, at the Kyoto International Conference Center in Kyoto, Japan. Being entrusted with the organization of this long-established and distinguished annual congress is a tremendous honor, and I undertake this role with deep gratitude and humility.

For Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, this will be the second time hosting the Annual Congress, following the 40th Annual Congress chaired by Professor Naomi Iwai 24 years ago. Together with my colleagues, we are wholeheartedly committed to organizing a congress that will contribute to the continued advancement of pediatric surgery.

The theme of the Congress is:"Our Priority: Every Child's Smile — Legacy and Innovation in Pediatric Surgery."

For all of us engaged in the care of children, protecting their smiles has always been the very foundation of our mission. Through their daily clinical practice, pediatric surgeons strive to safeguard the lives, health, and future of children by providing safe and high-quality care. At the same time, the continued development of pediatric surgery depends upon preserving and building upon the knowledge, experience, and skills passed down by our predecessors, while embracing innovation and creativity to shape the future of our specialty. By building upon this legacy, we can continue to deliver ever better care to children.

It is our sincere hope that this Congress will bring together pediatric surgeons, healthcare professionals, and researchers from Japan and around the world to share the latest research findings, engage in stimulating discussions, strengthen professional collaboration, and inspire new ideas that will advance the field of pediatric surgery.

We look forward to warmly welcoming you to Kyoto, where the fresh greenery of early summer provides a beautiful setting for our gathering. It would be our great pleasure to welcome you to the Congress, and we sincerely hope that the Congress will be both scientifically rewarding and memorable for all.
