Call for Abstract
Abstract Submission Period
August 19th (Wed.) – September 23rd (Wed.), 2026(JST)
Ethics Reviews
Medical research must comply with all declarations, laws and regulations, government ordinances, ministerial ordinances, guidelines, and notifications related to research ethics.
When submitting an abstract to JUA2027, prior approval of the ethical review by your institution’s ethics committee is mandatory.
- *
- In principle, both interventional studies and observational studies must obtain approval by the head of the institution based on a review by the ethics review committee and must obtain informed consent. Please note that case reports not intended for research purposes are exempt from this requirement.
The Japanese Urological Association (JUA) has established an Ethics Review Subcommittee under its Ethics Committee. This subcommittee will conduct ethics reviews exclusively for abstracts submitted to the JUA Annual Meeting, serving as a relief measure for members belonging to research institutions that do not have an ethics review committee as stipulated by the Ethical Guidelines for Medical and Biological Research Involving Human Subjects, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) (established March 23, 2021), and for presenters from overseas. The subcommittee will review studies that fall under the ethical guidelines and which have no conflict of interest.
However, if the principal investigator (representative investigator) or any co-investigator belongs to an institution with an established ethics review committee, the study is not eligible for review by the JUA Ethics Review Subcommittee.
If you would like to apply for ethics review by the JUA Ethics Review Subcommittee, please follow the instructions below and complete the application procedure well in advance so as to be in time for the abstract submission period.
