We are pleased to announce that the 52nd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Cardiovascular Surgery (JSCVS) will be held. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the members for giving us such an opportunity. It is a great honor for us to hold the academic meeting of JSCVS, which has a tradition and a proven track record, and we would like to achieve great results. We are making diligent preparations while keenly aware of the weight of responsibility.

The number of cardiovascular diseases in Japan continues to increase year by year and the public's expectations for cardiovascular surgery will further increase. We think it will become more and more important to return the results of the academic meeting to the people and meet the people's expectations. Into this background, we have set "BEYOND THE BOUNDS" as the theme of this meeting. I entrusted this theme with the desire to transcend territory, exceed limits, think and act, and move on to the next era. In order to continue to raise the level of cardiovascular surgery in Japan, not to mention each surgeon, I think it is essential to always take on new challenges without being satisfied with the current situation without being bound by established concepts we already know. We also believe that it is important to share information, learn from each other, and step up through cross-disciplinary discussions that transcend the boundaries of each area of subdivided cardiovascular surgery. We want to bring together the wisdom of all the world, and through energetic talks, we would like to make it a meaningful academic meeting that can be regarded as the first step to the next stage.

The exhibition will be held for three days from March 3rd (Thu) to 5th (Sat), 2022, and the venue will be Pacifico Yokohama North in Yokohama Japan. The COVID-19 still threatens our lives, and it is also essential to consider how to hold a new academic conference based on a new lifestyle. We think that enhancing educational content online and increasing the degree of freedom in sharing information is an excellent opportunity to reconsider the future of academic meetings. Online academic conferences have become constant recently. While the convenience of online is rising, there is also a lack of opportunities for in-depth interactive discussions, face-to-face social exchanges, and information transfers at a local meeting. In March 2022, we would like to ensure the safety of our members and complete the academic conference of JSCVS. We would like to work with you to create a new academic meeting that takes advantage of both the merits of holding locally and the merits of online distribution.

We pray for your continued health and success, and we sincerely hope that the COVID-19 will resolve as soon as possible.
