Welcome Message from the President
Dear International Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the Japan Radiological Society, it is my great pleasure to invite you to the 86th Annual Meeting, held in the beautiful port city of Yokohama. We are preparing a program that is not only scientifically rigorous but also intellectually stimulating and, above all, exciting.
The theme for this year’s congress is “Qs in Radiology.”
At first glance, this title may seem enigmatic, but it carries profound meaning for our field. In both clinical practice and academic research, everything begins with a Question.
Furthermore, our pursuit of excellence is defined by “Q” keywords such as Quality,
Quantification, Quantum, and Quick (speed of diagnosis).
There is also a playful, linguistic depth to this theme. In the Japanese language, the phonetic sound of “Q” (Kyū) corresponds to many essential concepts represented by different Kanji characters:
- 救 (Kyū) : To rescue or save (The core mission of medicine).
- 究 (Kyū) : To investigate or research (The essence of science).
- 急 (Kyū) : Urgent or rapid (Crucial for acute care).
- 休 (Kyū) : Rest (Reflecting our need for work-life balance).
- 九 (Kyū) : Nine. (Intriguingly, the word “Radiology” consists of exactly nine letters).
By weaving together these various “Qs,” we have created a theme with a touch of wit and wisdom—a reflection of the diverse and multifaceted nature of modern imaging. We hope this congress will be a place where your curiosity is sparked and your professional passion is renewed.
Why You Should Join Us in Yokohama
Beyond the exceptional scientific program, there are five compelling reasons to join us in Japan this April:
- Perfect Season and Scenery: April in Yokohama offers mild, pleasant weather and stunning scenery, far more comfortable for sightseeing than the harsh winters of Chicago (RSNA) or the unpredictable early spring of Vienna (ECR).
- Exceptional Value: Both registration fees for non-members and local accommodation costs are significantly more affordable than those of major congresses in the US or Europe, offering you world-class education at a much lower cost.
- Renowned Food Culture: Japan is a paradise for food lovers. You can enjoy incredibly delicious, high-quality cuisine ranging from affordable street food to fine dining, all within walking distance of the venue.
- Global Academic Exchange: The congress features an extensive range of English-language content. We are proud to host world-renowned researchers and speakers, making this a truly international hub for the latest in radiological science.
- World-Class Technical Exhibition: Our “ITEM” (International Technical Exhibition of Medical Imaging) is one of the largest in the world, rivaling the scale of ECR’s exhibition. You will have hands-on access to the latest cutting-edge medical technology and AI innovations.
We are eager to welcome the global radiology community to Yokohama. Let us find the answers to our “Questions” together and enjoy the unique hospitality of Japan.
We look forward to seeing you in 2027!
