Eligibility: Applicants must meet all of the following criteria

  • Be the first author of a General Case Report presentation on a topic related to radiology.
  • The submitted case report must not have received an award at any domestic conference in Japan at the time of abstract submission.
  • At the time of abstract submission, be a medical resident, medical student, or recent medical school graduate in Japan.

How to Apply

  • Select “Apply for Medical Trainee Best Case Report Awards” during the online submission process for General Case Reports.
  • Authors who pass the first-round review will be required to submit a separate, more detailed abstract for the second-round review.
  • This award is for case reports only. For research projects, please apply for other relevant awards.

Selection Process

  1. First-round Review: Reviewers will score the submitted abstracts to determine acceptance for the meeting. A certain number of the top-scoring abstracts will be selected to advance to the second round.
  2. Second-round Review: The selection committee will evaluate the abstracts submitted for the second round and select several finalists.
  3. Final Review: Finalists will deliver an oral presentation during the Awards Session at the Annual Meeting. The final winners will be determined based on the scores from the final review committee (composed of 3 peer reviewers and 3 publicly recruited reviewers).
  • Scoring will be based on predetermined criteria. Adjustments may be made to correct for inter-reviewer variability if necessary.
  • Abstracts selected for the final review will not be presented in other oral presentation sessions (i.e., the presentation will be given only once during the Awards Session).
  • If a candidate is selected as a finalist for more than one award, the nomination for the higher-ranking award will take precedence. An individual cannot win multiple awards for the same presentation.

Selection Schedule for Finalists (Tentative)

  1. First-round Application Period: Same as the General Abstract Submission period.
  2. Second-round Abstract Submission Opens: Wednesday, November 18. (First authors of abstracts selected in the first round will receive an invitation to the second round.)
