ABOUT About Information
About the Asian-Pacific City Summit?
The Asian-Pacific City Summit (APCS) is an international leaders’ conference proposed by Fukuoka City in 1994. It brings together representatives of major cities from the Asia-Pacific region to share the challenges faced by their cities and the initiatives being undertaken to address them, and to engage in candid exchanges of opinions.
Through these activities, the Summit aims to promote cooperation toward solving urban issues and to build networks for the further development of cities.
The 15th Summit will be held in person in Fukuoka City, returning to the city for the first time since the 12th Summit in 2018. During these eight years, rapid changes have occurred in society and people’s lives due to factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic and technological advancements, further increasing the complexity of challenges faced by cities.
With 2030, the target year for achieving the SDGs, fast approaching, the 15th Summit will be held under the theme of “Collaborating & Co-Creating: Initiatives for Sustainable Cities”. In addition to leaders from 34 cities in 15 countries that are members of the APCS, invitations will also be extended to major cities in each country and cities with ties to Fukuoka.
Representatives from international organisations such as UN-Habitat, as well as private-sector organisations and others, will gather together for the 15th Summit.
