The WCES–JSES 2026 MIS Championship is a high-profile international event highlighting outstanding minimally invasive surgical performance. Taking place at PACIFICO Yokohama during WCES 2026 (September 2–5, 2026), it offers a unique on-site stage for teams worldwide to demonstrate advanced endo-laparoscopic capabilities.
Eligibility & Registration Process
- Team Composition:
- Each team must consist of three (3) primary participants.
- Backup Members:
- Up to two (2) additional members may be registered as backups.
- Country Representation:
- Each country may have only one (1) official team, which must be registered through their National Society.
- International Invitations:
- Invitations will be sent through National and Regional Societies.
- WCES Registration:
- All participants registered for WCES-JSES 2026.
- No Age or Graduation Year Restriction:
- The competition is open to all eligible surgeons regardless of their age or years since graduation.
- Organizing Committee Restriction:
- Members of the organizing committee are not allowed to participate as contestants.
Competition Format
- Participants will be evaluated on essential MIS skills such as:
- Suturing techniques
- Knot tying proficiency
- TAPP hernia repair procedures
- Other endo-laparoscopic skills
- The competition will be judged by a panel of renowned international experts.
- The schedule and specific event details will be shared with registered teams before the competition.
Prizes & Recognition
- The winning team will receive prestigious awards and benefits as described in the WCES 2026 website and official leaflet.
