English Presentation Award

Abstract Submission Period

August 20 (Wed), 2025 – October 22 (Wed), 2025 12:00pm

Please note that this is the final deadline. No extensions will be permitted under any circumstances. Submissions must be completed by the specified date and time.

JSSR is the largest spine-specific conference in Japan, with approximately 3,000 participants, including doctors from abroad.

English Presentation Award

The International Committee of Japanese Society for Spine Surgery and Related Research (JSSR) has established an “English Presentation Session” at the congress since 2012. This year's call for abstracts for the “English Presentation Session” will recognize the best English presentations given by researchers. Please note the following information when applying for the English Presentation Award.

  • Candidates for the English Presentation Award must be the first author of the abstract submitted for the JSSR 2025 “English Presentation Session”.
  • Winners will be selected based on the quality of their abstract, the quality of their presentation, and their ability of discussion.
  • Winners will be announced during JSSR 2026 and will be awarded JPY 50,000 for the Gold Award.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

All abstracts must be submitted via the online abstract submission system.
Submitted abstracts must be prepared in accordance with the following instructions.

  • Abstracts must be written in English.
  • If you would like to apply for "English Presentation Award", select "Yes" to the question "Application for English Presentation Award".
  • Abstract title is up to 140 characters.
    Drug Names in Titles: Authors are required to use the generic name when referring to drugs in the title of the abstract. The use of brand names is not permitted as a general rule.
    Brand Names in Titles (Exception): In cases where the use of a brand name is unavoidable, the name must be followed immediately by the appropriate symbol—trademark (™) or registered trademark (®)—in superscript.
    Institutional Information in Titles: Authors must not include the presenter’s institutional affiliation, nor any description that could identify the institution, in the title.
  • Abstract body is up to 1,600 characters.
    If your abstract contains charts or graphics, abstract body is limited to 1,000 characters.
    Prepare a summary of the abstract for the program book. (Up to 15 words, not including the title of the abstract).
    Drug Names: Authors are required to use the generic name when referring to drugs in the body of the abstract. The use of brand names is not permitted as a general rule.
    Brand Names (Exception): In cases where the use of a brand name is unavoidable, the name must be followed immediately by the appropriate symbol—trademark (™) or registered trademark (®)—in superscript.

Abstract Submission Qualification

The first author must be a member of the Japanese Society for Spine Surgery and Related Research. This does not apply to residents living overseas.

Disclosure of Conflict of Interest (COI)

To ensure transparency of the clinical research partnerships between industry and academia, and in JSSR 2025 presentations, all presenters are expected to disclose any "conflict of interest" (COI) at JSSR 2026. All COI matters that have occurred within three years of the abstract submission and up to the time of the presentation must be disclosed.
Please make sure to answer all questions regarding COI disclosure on the abstract submission system.

Ethical review board and informed consent

Whether approval from the ethical review board and informed consent have been properly obtained;
Please follow the procedures in accordance with your institution's internal regulations and the ethical review board’s guidelines.

  • You can confirm and revise your abstract at any time until the submission deadline using your Submission ID and password.

Notification of Acceptance/Rejection

  • The President of JSSR 2026 will take the authors’ preferred abstract categories into consideration; however, the final decision regarding category assignment as well as abstract acceptance or rejection rests with the President.
  • Notification of acceptance will be sent by e-mail to the corresponding author in January, 2026.
