Japanese Calligraphy Workshops

Dates : March 6 (Thu) – March 7 (Fri), 2025

Calligraphy is one of Japan’s traditional arts, boasting a history of over a thousand years. While its origins lie in China, Japanese calligraphy has developed its own unique aesthetics over time. Rather than just a skill of writing characters, calligraphy is an art form expressing one's spirit through the movement of the brush.
In this workshop, beginners can participate with confidence due to careful guidance. Our instructor will carefully guide you through the basics, including how to hold and use the brush properly. While immersing in Japanese culuture, you can also experience the joy~
At the end of the session, you can take home your own artwork, written on a uchiwa (Japanese hand fan) or decorative paper. As a special souvenir, you will also receive a postcard-sized calligraphy piece created by the instructor.
For this special occasion, our instructor will be dressed in a traditional hakama, adding an authentic touch to the experience.

Taisho Romantic Experience

During the era when Kobe’s exotic cityscape and Western-style houses were emerging, a fashion trend known as “Haikara-san” became popular among women. This stylish hakama attire harmonized beautifully with the city’s streets and architecture, allowing people to enjoy traditional Japanese fashion while taking a quick time travel to the past.
Male participants can also experience Shosei (student) style, embracing the retro-modern charm of the Taisho period.
Enjoy a unique kimono experience that captures the essence of Kobe’s historical elegance.

    The simple kimono dressing can be worn over a dress shirt.

What to Bring

  • Participants opting for the full kimono dressing should bring innerwear such as Heattech or leggings.

Important Notes

  • If you do not arrive within 10 minutes after the scheduled start time, your reservation will be canceled, and the spot may be offered to another participant.

Origami Experience Workshop

Origami Experience

Origami is a traditional Japanese paper craft with a history of over 1,500 years. Originally used for religious rituals and gift decorations, it has evolved over time and is now cherished as an art form worldwide. With just a single sheet of paper, origami allows you to create various shapes, making it a wonderful way to develop creativity and concentration.
In this workshop, our experienced instructor will carefully guide you through the basics of folding techniques and the creation of beautiful origami pieces, ensuring that all participants including beginners can enjoy the experience.
At the end of the session, you can take home your own origami creations as a special souvenir.

Mizuhiki Workshop

Mizuhiki is a traditional Japanese decorative knotting art that has long been a symbol of etiquette and celebration, especially in gift-giving culture. Each knot carries the meaning of “tying bonds” and “connecting relationships,” playing an important role in linking not only gifts and money but also hearts.
In this workshop, you will learn the traditional techniques of Mizuhiki knotting while appreciating its intricate designs and deep symbolic meanings. The session is designed for beginners, with careful guidance from our instructor to ensure a smooth and enjoyable learning experience.
You will have the opportunity to create practical items such as ornaments and keychains, allowing you to experience the charm of handmade crafts while putting your heart into each creation.

Amezaiku Demonstration/Japanese Candy Art Demonstration

Live Candy Art Demonstration

Candy crafting (Amezaiku) is a traditional Japanese art that involves shaping colorful candy into intricate and beautiful designs. Originating in the Edo period, this craft was primarily enjoyed at festivals and celebrations.
During the event, a skilled candy artisan will demonstrate the nostalgic art of Amezaiku right before your eyes. You can watch the delicate craftsmanship up close and even receive a handcrafted candy piece.
At the end of the demonstration, you will have the chance to take home a candy creation in your favorite shape.
No advance reservation is required—feel free to drop by and enjoy this unique experience!
