Welcome to IFAO 2025

The mission of the International Federation for Artificial Organs (IFAO) is to increase and encourage knowledge and research on artificial organs, apheresis, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and other related topics, to facilitate the international exchange of knowledge, and to provide education related to the improvement and optimal utilization of organ assist devices. To fulfill this purpose, The Federation will arrange biennial congresses jointly with the Member Societies (Japanese Society for Artificial Organs, European Society for Artificial Organs and American Society for Artificial Internal Organs) with special emphasis on international collaboration and dissemination of knowledge into developing countries.

The tricentric collaboration began in 1977 as the International Society for Artificial Organs (ISAO) under the leadership of Dr. Willem Kolff, the father of artificial organs. The biennial congresses were held by rotation among three Member Societies. The Society was transformed to the Federation in 2004 with keeping the tricentric organization system. IFAO 2025 is 11th Biennial Congress after the organization reform, and will be convened conjointly with 63rd Annual Congress of Japanese Society for Artificial Organs.

The Congress venue, Grand Nikko Tokyo Bay Maihama, is located next to Tokyo Disneyland. Japan is one of the most attractive countries for sightseeing and tour. You and your family may spend unforgettable moments by visiting historical places where world heritage temples and castles have stood, and beautiful natural landscapes, the trees with colored leaves and mountains including Mt. Fuji. There are also many attractions and events in the Tokyo Disneyland, which is next door to the Congress Venue.
