Kei Takase
President of the 84th Annual Meeting of the Japan Radiological Society
Professor and Chairman, Graduate School of Medicine Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Tohoku University

The 84th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Radiological Society will be held at Pacifico Yokohama for four days from April 10th (Thurs) to April 13th (Sun), 2025, in conjunction with the 81st Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Radiological Technology, the 129th Scientific Meeting of the Japan Society of Medical Physics, and the International Technical Exhibition of Medical Imaging (ITEM 2025) as JRC2025.

The theme for 2025 is “Radiology for Everyone”. We are conducting research to further advance, innovate and develop new medical technologies while applying radiology to everyday clinical practice, and our goal for academic development is to “make people happy through science and technology”. We hope that both the elderly and the young, those living in urban areas and those living in rural areas, will benefit from the wide-ranging application of radiology, not only for the purpose of disease treatment, but also for healthy and happy lives through ultra-early detection and prevention of diseases. The program has been designed to be widely enjoyed by all participants.

In this year's meeting, we have established the Best Abstract Awards, Young Investigator Awards, and the Medical Student Case Report Awards with the aim of making the topics of general participants even more attractive. Thank you for registering so many presentations. Part of the award session will be presented at the Marine Lobby.

As a special project of this annual meeting, which brings doctors and specialists from many different fields, we have also planned a debate session on “SRT vs IR : Showdown over the Ultimate Local Treatment”, as well as a session where we will discuss “Shaping the Future of Radiology: Navigating Healthcare Challenges in 2040 and Beyond” with overseas speakers. The highlights of this year's meeting are also listed on the “JRS2025 Highlights” page, so please take a look.

At the joint opening ceremony, there will be a karate demonstration and a performance by Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Band, Tokyo. Just as it is essential to prepare for disasters and unforeseen circumstances in order to hope for peace, I would like to reaffirm our mission to prepare for disease through radiology in order to achieve health. Through the joint special lecture by Professor Takaaki Kajita, who discovered “Neutrino Oscillation”, and the talk by the high priest of Jigenji Temple on Mt. Fukuju, I hope that you will be able to reflect on the physical universe and the universe within your heart, and throughout the event, feel the beauty of our country's land, culture and traditions, which have an overwhelmingly long history in the world. The opening ceremony will highlight the need to improve research capabilities, showcase the importance of teamwork in research, and inspire people to take part in medical research. The opening ceremony, including the joint special lecture, is free for the public, so please come along with your family members.

With the generous cooperation and guidance of teachers from all over the country, we will be holding this conference together with everyone from JSRT, JSMP, and JIRA. We hope that you will come to Yokohama as much as possible and enjoy the conference through academic exchange, information gathering, and research presentations in person.
