The 83rd Annual Meeting of the Japan Radiological Society will be held from April 11-14, 2024 at PACIFICO, Yokohama. The conference has been named Japan Radiology Congress 2024 (JRC 2024) as it will be held in conjunction with the 80th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Radiological Technology, the 127th Meeting of the Japan Society of Medical Physics, and the International Technical Exhibition of Medical Imaging (ITEM 2024)

The theme for this conference is "Leading an Era of Transformation." It seems that radiology has always been at the forefront of change, often facing new challenges ahead of other medical disciplines. For example, in recent years, radiology has been quick to adopt telemedicine as an efficient way of working and has been proactive in establishing rules for AI utilization and advocating for insurance coverage. Radiology also plays a cross-cutting role in various medical disciplines, allowing it to have a panoramic (bird eye's view) of healthcare trends.

Furthermore, 2024 appears to be a year when significant changes will truly impact the healthcare and society as a whole. COVID-19 restrictions are easing, the reforms in physician’s work styles are beginning, preparations for the introduction of standardized electronic health records are underway due to Japanese government initiatives, and the impact of AI, such as Chat-GPT, on social activities is expected to increase significantly. Taking all these factors into consideration, I believe that 2024 will be an significantly important year for radiologists in a position to lead transformation, which is why I chose this theme.

The poster for this conference reflects my image of a radiologist. The bird eye's view of Yokohama, where the conference is held, symbolizes how radiologists overview healthcare. The three flying birds represent the community of healthcare and medicine, with radiologists leading the way at the forefront, curving gently to the right, signifying steering healthcare and medicine towards transformation.

We have incorporated various new initiatives this time, with keywords including AI and healthcare DX, promotion of international exchange, international CT symposium, cross-disciplinary approaches, and talent development.

We believe that this conference will provide valuable insights into how radiologists can lead the era of transformation. We aim to offer content that helps participants understand the role of radiologists in driving change. We hope to have as many attendees as possible on-site in order to facilitate in-depth discussions on transformation during each session.
