Highlights and Features of JRS 2024

1. Joint Program

1)
Joint Opening and Closing Ceremonies
The joint opening ceremony will commence with a live performance, followed by an overview of this congress meeting, lectures on the future vision for radiology, and the honorary award ceremony.
The joint closing ceremony will feature a long-awaited performance by the Radiology Orchestra.
We encourage everyone to join us for these wonderful festivities commemorating JRS 2024.
2)
Looking Ahead to the Era of Generative AI and Healthcare DX
Generative AI and Healthcare DX are becoming key terms of our era. Through the following three programs, we hope to provide an opportunity to contemplate the future of society and healthcare, as well as what it means to be human:
  • A joint special lecture on "Considering Humanity in the Age of AI" by Juichi Yamagiwa
(Director of the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature)
  • A special lecture on "The New Society and Healthcare Beyond DX" by Hiroaki Miyata
(Professor of Health Policy and Management at Keio University)
  • A joint symposium on "The New Medical Frontier Beyond Generative AI – The Future of Imaging Diagnosis"

2. Promotion of International Exchange

We wish to provide insight into the current position of Japanese radiology in comparison with countries from around the world by having international speakers participate in symposiums related to their fields of expertise.
To lower the language barrier, we introduce AI translation on monitors, an innovative effort with little precedent in academic conferences. We encourage taking this opportunity to interact with these global experts in their respective fields.

3. International CT Symposium

While we are familiar with international conferences on ultrasonography, MRI, nuclear medicine, etc., there has not been one, particularly in Asia, focusing on CT, which is increasingly in need with the emergence of various new technologies like photon counting CT. We hope this approximately 8- hour symposium featuring numerous international speakers will serve as a new platform for sharing the latest information on CT.

4. President's Initiative: "Radiology as a Cross-Disciplinary Field"

In this segment, we will focus on cross-disciplinary topics. "Cross-disciplinary" is expected to be a key term for future radiologists, whose involvement in the visualization of the peripheral nervous system, lymphatic system, venous system, and the diagnosis and treatment of vascular malformations places them in a position to take initiatives to get involved on a cross-disciplinary basis. Due to this interdisciplinary nature of radiology, we believe also that it may be the best suited for the promotion of Medical DX.

5. Talent Development (ITEM Tour and IS3R)

Recently, we are seeing a decline in interest among the younger generation in imaging techniques and advancements in equipment. As a countermeasure, we will conduct an ITEM Tour for young professionals, involving radiologist-guided tours of corporate equipment exhibits.
Additionally, there will be a symposium on talent development, a topic rarely discussed, which includes a lecture by a representative of IS3R, an organization advocating for a vision for the development of radiologists worldwide. Please do not miss out on this invaluable opportunity.
