Kyoto Seika University, together with all its partners, warmly welcomes ICAS 12, an important global intellectual gathering, to Kyoto and Japan.
The International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS) is a biennial meeting platform for academics, cultural and civic actors from all over the world to discuss and share new insights on Asia and in ‘Asian Studies’ in a multidisciplinary, transsectorial context. ICAS events embrace a wide range of topics in Asian Studies research and Asian affairs in general. They draw from a humanistic social science interest that can include other areas and forms of knowledge, including the arts as well as scientific, policy and practitioners’ experiences.
The Convention attracts participants from around 75 countries to engage in global dialogues on Asia that transcend boundaries between academic disciplines and geographic areas. The 12th International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS 12) will be held in Kyoto, the cultural heart of Japan, from 24 – 27 August 2021. The city is famous for its World Heritage Sites, temples, gardens, palaces and craft centres. The main venue, the iconic modernist Kyoto International Conference Center, is set in a beautiful garden.
Kyoto is an academic city of art and science with 48 member universities in engaging in this project to create platforms for world researchers to envision new roles for the Social Sciences and Humanities, and to collaborate towards better sustainable human and environmental systems.
Kyoto Seika University (SEIKA) will be the main host of ICAS 12, partnering with the city, The Consortium of Universities in Kyoto, museums and craft centres.
