We look forward to your participation.
Gujo Odori is a traditional Bon Odori dance held in Hachiman-cho, Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture. It is counted as one of the three major Bon Odori dances and three major folk songs in Japan. It is held for 32 nights from mid-July to early September every year, attracts tens of thousands of dancers from all over the country, and is registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Gujo Odori, which has been sung and danced for about 420 years since the Edo period, is not something to watch but to participate in and enjoy. Anyone, no matter what kind of clothes they wear, can easily enter the circle and move their hands and feet while being able to dance, which is both interesting and attractive. Let's all get in a circle together and dance while responding to the shamisen, drums, flutes, and uta with words, shouts, and geta.
